Julia & Jake's Engagement Session

You learn a lot about people when it rains.

I know that sounds weird, but hear me out. Julia & Jake are some really truly wonderful people. How do I know that, you ask? Because of rain. The first time we tried to shoot together, I drove to Cincinnati, OH to pick them up, drove another hour or so north, and right as we pulled into the parking lot for our location, it started hailing. Like, legitimate ice falling from the sky. So we decided to reschedule. And when most people would express frustration, they just laughed. Then when I returned to Cincinnati a few weeks later, it rained. all. day. I told Julia & Jake we could reschedule again, but they decided to tough it out, change plans again, and explore downtown Cinci and dodge some raindrops while we made some photos. Even though they had to change plans yet again, they were open handed with their expectations. Even though the rain was inevitable and annoying and kept us running around like fools, they laughed it off. And when the storm winds blew Julia's hair across her face, Jake would reach over and tuck it behind her ear. See, I wouldn't have witnessed those little acts of bravery and kindness if it hadn't rained that day. So contrary to popular opinion, I am grateful for that rain.  And I'm so glad I get to be there when these two make their covenant of marriage this summer.

What a blessing rain can be.
